About

DESCRIPTION

Profound Physical Dimension Deep Debossing is a traditional artisan technique that creates a profound physical depression into the card’s surface. Unlike standard flat printing, this process uses a custom-machined heavy metal die and extreme pressure to permanently compress the paper fibers downward.

The Cotton Stock Advantage: While this process can be applied to a variety of our Premium Stocks, the most dramatic and “deepest” results are achieved on our 100% Cotton Stock. Due to its long, soft fibers and superior compressibility, cotton paper allows the die to sink further into the material, creating a shadow-rich, architectural depth that is simply unmatched. While other specialty papers are excellent candidates, 100% Cotton Stock remains the global “Gold Standard” for high-end debossed branding.

Placement Options & Design Impact

  • Not Required: The card canvas remains completely flat, highlighting the raw texture of the stock.

  • Single-Sided: The deep deboss impression is applied to the front side only. (Note: Due to the extreme pressure required for true depth, a slight “witness mark” may be visible on the reverse side of standard-weight stocks).

  • Double-Sided: Deep debossing is applied to both the front and back. (Expert Tip: For double-sided projects, artwork elements must be offset and never overlap. We strictly mandate ultra-thick materials, such as our Triplex (ABA) construction, to support depth on both sides without compromising the card’s structure).

Technical Pre-press Insight

To achieve a crisp, striking impression, all artwork must be submitted in 100% vector format. Because we are physically moving heavy paper fibers rather than laying down ink, Deep Debossing requires bolder strokes than standard printing. We mandate a minimum line thickness of 1pt. Extremely fine details or tightly spaced textures may merge under pressure; for the best result, let the design “breathe” to allow the light to catch the edges of the deboss.
